Code Kids

Code kids learn advanced digital skills. Success skills for life in a digital world! Code Kids learn to use technology like pros by keyboarding correctly, navigating PCs efficiently and surfing the internet safely. Each session, kids will complete a new digital project including publishing their own newspaper, creating expert PowerPoint presentations or authoring their own YouTube video, complete with captions.

What skills will my kids learn? Keyboarding, beginning to intermediate Windows PC functions, internet search strategies, online safety, document creation and publishing with the Google office suite.

Electronics Lab

Caption... When kids get hands-on with batteries, circuit boards, switches and LED lights, the results are amazing. Campers learn basic electronics including conductivity, resistance and magnetism while creating an awesome project to take home at the end of the week.

What skills will my kids learn? The science behind electricity, circuits, resistance, conductivity, how magnetism and current make motors work.

Minecraft Makers

Caption... Take the most popular computer game ever to intrigue young kids and add a creative twist! In Minecraft Makers, kids work collaboratively on our private server to build a harmonious neighborhood complete with food, shelter and activities for its residents. A unique combination of computer gaming and good citizenship.

What skills will my kids learn? Team-collaboration and problem solving, public speaking, Minecraft building strategies, connecting Minecraft to server-based networks.

Robot Garage

Caption... A great introduction to robotics for young kids. Campers learn serious engineering skills and basic computer programming in a kid-friendly, hands-on setting. By the end of the week, kids will program our robots to draw pictures, greet friends and navigate around obstacles. For many kids, Robot Garage is a stepping stone towards more advanced computer programming later on.

What skills will my kids learn? How sensors and computer code help robots make decisions, simple mechanical design skills, hands-on programming using ASEBA, the Thymio II robot's visual programming language.

Drone Racers

Caption... Aerial drones and quad-copters are (literally!) changing the way we see our world. At Drone Racing camp, kids will learn how to navigate through every aspect of drone skills during an exciting week of activities that includes piloting basics, aviation safety, acrobatic/aerial tricks and best of all…drone racing. The week concludes with flight competitions including speed races and precision flight exercises. Every child takes home a live video shot from the cockpit of their drone.

Tech EdVentures provides ALL needed equipment (Syma X5C, Hubsan X4 or similar mini-drones.) What skills will my child learn? Safety procedures, basic electronics, drone repair and LOTS of precision flight skills.

Game Maker

Caption...Your kids will create amazing digital games using the same software as industry pros. Ready to be the master of your own universe? Create animated characters, unlimited backgrounds, add sound and special effects by writing the code that makes your game awesome. Publish and play your games at home. We’ll show you how!

What software will my kids use? Click Team Fusion game design studio, GiMP image editing software, Audacity audio studio.
What skills will my child learn? Gaming / user interface techniques, 2-D scene creation, image editing, background/sprite placement, score-keeping, physics engines and more.

Intro to Minecraft Mods

Caption...Ready for extreme play? Then get ready for Minecraft Mods. Taught by experienced modders who will share design tips and build strategies while teaching you how to create your own expert mods using the award winning Learn to Mod platform. Reprogram Minecraft from the inside out, creating new elements and changing the power of players with just a few key strokes.

What skills will my child learn? How Minecraft interacts with servers, block-based JavaScript programming, coding logic including loops, conditions and control statements.

Minecraft Adventure Mapping

Caption...After you graduate from basic crafting what comes next? Adventure maps allow players to look for clues, find hidden treasures and carry out missions in custom designed worlds. At Tech Camp, our campers will learn how to download and play adventure maps…then we’ll create our own custom worlds full of hidden surprises for others to share. The hottest new development in the Minecraft world.

What skills will my child learn? Downloading and installing world-maps, command-line skills, how to connect with and manipulate server environments.

Mobile App Inventor

Caption...Your development team will build a portfolio of working mobile phone apps including games and multimedia creations that take advantage of your phone’s microphone and cameras. An amazing chance to learn mobile development skills in a real world setting. One of our most exciting new camps!

What skills will my child learn? Collaborative problem solving, interactive 2-D digital graphics, linking code to physical devices in the real world, plus a range of basic coding and programming skills.

Python Programming-Code Academy

Caption... Code Academy offers a peek into the world of Python, the language that powers everything from YouTube to Google search. Your kids will code their own restaurant storefront, learning to take input from customers and reply appropriately. They'll play with Python's graphics capabilities, hacking a working 2D outer-space video game to add their own twists.
We welcome students of all experience levels! We'll teach your kids everything they need to know, and we have plenty of challenges in our back pocket for those who have a bit of a head-start.

What software will my kids use? Students code in Python v. 2.7.9 using trinket.io, a web-based development environment where programmers around the world create and collaborate.
What skills will my child learn? Object-oriented programming, debugging, drawing with the Turtle graphics kit, compound logic statements, and most importantly: problem-solving skills that will aid them in every future endeavor they undertake!

Robotics-Mission to Mars

Caption...Send your robotic skills into orbit! We’ll create a fleet of explorer robots and send them to the surface a rocky planet. Once arrived, they will navigate around obstacles using sensors and remote controls to collect artifacts. Kids learn real-world skills as they build working electronic circuits, wire sensors and write computer code in C++ to drive their ‘bots.

What equipment will my kids use? Arduino control boards and the Arduino IDE, servo motors, wires, power supplies and electronic sensors.
What skills will my child learn? Building electronic circuits, integrating physical hardware with micro-chip controllers, a full range of basic programming in Arduino/C++.

Digital Animation Lab

Caption... An amazing opportunity to learn the artistic and technical side of the fastest growing field in digital media. Our campers work with sophisticated software similar to the tools used by Disney and Pixar. Learn to build a dreamscape. Animate a treehouse…or a space station. Tell a story that inspires others using fluid artwork, movement and expertly crafted transitions.

What equipment will my kids use? Blender Design Studio, GiMP image editing suite.
What skills will my child learn? Planning and blocking scenes, creating 3-D shapes, rigging sections of shapes for movement, directing and executing animation commands.

FPV Drone Racers

Caption... This camp is the real deal of FPV Drone Racing. How real? Start with a hands-on course in drone mechanics, flight electronics and safety procedures. Hours of daily flight exercises take campers from basic navigation skills on our fleet of Syma X5s up to precision flight challenges using the small, fast Hubsan X4. We'll fly through obstacle courses, do flips and learn how to land on a dime. Campers who have "earned their wings" will pilot our 250 class quad, a powerful copter that can fly over 50 mph while streaming real-time video through Virtual Reality goggles. Hands down, FPV Racers is the top gun of all summer flight schools.

What equipment will my kids use? Syma X5C and Hubsan X4 mini-drones PLUS hands-on experience with one advanced drone (Eachine 250 or similar) that includes six channel flight control and real-time FPV video communications.
What skills will my child learn? Drone building skills including wiring, electronic controls and video transmission. In depth training in drone safety, privacy/legal issues, plus hours upon hours of precision flight and navigation exercises.

Caption...Our most advanced Minecraft modding camp takes kids deep inside the Java registries that make Minecraft tick. Create new elements, given characters special powers and changed the way existing MC elements like TNT behave. Campers will use Eclipse, a professional Java programming tool, to reprogram Minecraft from the inside out, learning a host of computer coding skills along the way.

What software will my kids use? Eclipse Java editor and utilities plus Minecraft.
What skills will my child learn? Lots of practical Java coding skills.

Mobile App Inventor

Caption...Your development team will build a portfolio of working mobile apps including demo-games, utilities and one challenge App that’s built to solve a real world problem…like seeing if friends are nearby. We’ll round out the week with a demo-day, where campers show off their skills to local professionals and receive feedback on their apps. An amazing chance to learn mobile development skills in a real-world setting. One of our most exciting new camps!

What skills will my child learn? Collaborative problem solving , interactive 2-D digital graphics, linking code to physical devices in the real world, basic coding and programming skills, public speaking and presentation skills.

Robotics-Pro Edition

Caption... Push your robotics skills to the limits with this in-depth workshop for experienced campers. Learn how to navigate and program our ‘bot in C++, then add custom modifications like photo-transistors, ultrasonic distance detection and infra-red controllers. Our closing project for the week will be a simulated search and rescue mission to find stranded pilots and bring them home safely. A tremendous intro to real engineering skills.

What equipment will my kids use? Arduino control boards and the Arduino IDE, servo motors, wires, power supplies and electronic sensors.
What skills will my child learn? Bulding electronic circuits, integrating physical hardware with micro-chip controllers, basic programming in Arduino/C++.
